It's quite a nice day here, mostly sunny with a bit of cloud, but no rain so far.

Quick update. Lifted all the slabs and prepared the area for the footings on Saturday. Fitted the mesh and rebar and poured the footings on Sunday. I am now keeping them damp to make sure they can go off properly.
The footings are around 12 - 15cm deep, with 8mm mesh fitted across the whole area and two lengths of 12mm rebar fitted underneath each of the areas where walls will be above the slab.
I promise I will post pictures soon!

not sure there any risk of them drying out any time soon based on the last few days rain. :-)
sounds good, can't wait to see them. I use image shack to host my pics, and it can resize on upload for you which makes it all a lot easier and pre forms the bulletin board links for you.
lets hope for another sunny weekend

The cleared area, which also extends to the left out of view behind the table The base is compacted Type 1 directly on top of solid clay, with a plastic sheet laid over the top to prevent the storage areas becoming too damp. And part way through pouring the concrete - roughly 4 : 1 mix with ballast, made it reasonably runny to make sure it was possible to get it through the rebar & mesh and level it off without too many issues. Next job at the weekend is to do the block work. Oh and the Pompeii will be in the corner, with a double BBQ to the left and a small prep area to the right.

Hey Faz.......looking good. I like the introduction of the polythene membrane.....it all helps.

2 BBQs, so I guess it's a quadruple I am going for!
Busy day yesterday and got most of the block work in place. One of the problems with using reclaimed blocks is that taking the old mortar off is a pain in the bum and took ages, still, it saved a decent amount of money so I am not complaining.
I got a cut off saw (A partner K650 II) off EBay for 35 quid recently, and with a diamond blade on it is brilliant at cutting through the blocks. It was cheap because it wasn't running, but it was a simple (and free) repair in the end.
Hopefully finish off the block and get some concrete and rebar in place today before the rain sets in - which is forecast for sometime after lunch.
