....looks like you done a fine job with the vermecrete. I hate using the stuff myself but it does an excellent job....
One of our members (can't remember who) calls it "The devils Porridge"....perfect term for vermecrete.

Sal
I don't think vermecrete would keep the rain out. You need a waterproof render.....or a couple of bags of "K-Rend (comes in 25kg bags ..is waterproof and you just add water to mix....it also comes in 6 different colours (about £9 a bag))
Any future problems with cracking render usually start from the waterproof render coat touching an un-insulated or hot chimney....if you can, put something 5mm thick against the part of the chimney that the render will touch. When dry remove remove the 5mm piece (can be hardboard, plastic, glossy cardboard etc) and fill the gap with fire-proof mastic.

Thank you terry for your information about K Rend ,I already had my sand and cement. My final coating of Sharp sand and Cement + Jewsons retard waterproof concrete plasticizer with a highly efficient slow setting effect between 4 to 36 hrs. don`t think I will be putting a colour on the dome as I like the rustic natural look, also made a rustic door cover for the base using a old pallet the fire bricks came on.

Close up view of Dome & Rustic door, I still need to make an oven door and also decide which chimney I will be using. Can anybody give me advice about what to use to painting my red chimney a darker colour,( its a bit vibrant and I would prefer a more natural rustic shade) What products could you suggest please? Advice would be much appreciated. Thanks Salsamak

Hi bookemdanno
We did make a large tray size pizza which looked nice ,sorry no photo`s as we were so hungry we devoured it as soon as it came out and forgot to take one. It had peppers -toms - olives mozzarella - salami - prosciutto. It took about 6 minutes to cook as we put it in a metal tray. I should have taken it out of the tray and just used the oven floor. We are learning as we go along. We will know next time to put on the oven floor. Even our neighbours who don't like pizza enjoyed it! Thanks for your comments! To be honest, I was really inspired by the information on this forum and found the postings really helpful. Once I start a project I just keep going until Iv completed it. Cheers

Our second pizza turned out great and tasted good too! The recipe used was: 400g Strong bread flour 14g fast action dried yeast 280ml warm water 1 large pinch of salt Add yeast to flour and salt and mix thoroughly. Make a well in centre and gradually add water incorporating all ingedients until a sticky dough forms. Turn out onto a well floured surface and nead for 10-15 minutes until an smooth elastic dough is formed. Place dough in an oiled bowl, cover with clingfilm for at least an hour. ( Mine was left all day) Turn dough out onto floured surface, portions ( this made 6), roll into balls and leave on an oiled tray until ready to roll out and top with your favourite ingredients. Give it a try, let me know how you get on. Have a nice Pizza

I'm sorry, but that one is beyond my skill level at the moment! There is a section for videos, maybe that area will give a little guidance?
