Its possible, but your mix has to be nice and fatty and smooth. Even then, the sand can clog together in the tube exit and just bung everything up. I've a proper pointing gun, and it takes some trial and lots of error before getting everything set right. Personally, I'd stick to the Vitcas sealant and a little of your homebrew just to cover it all up and keep it all looking nice from the inside.

Thanks Danno. I've ordered some sealant. Also some verniculite from Jewsons at a reasonable WFO discount.

I've ground out the crack to make it easier to fill. Attachments:

I fired it up for about six hours before increasing the heat so the soot burnt off. A bit last minute but I thought I'd try out the oven but needed a pizza peel. I knocked this one up out of a biscuit tin & mop handle. I might sell them on e-bay. Attachments:

A shop bought pizza with a thick base. It was a bit smoky at times. Attachments:

It tasted good though. There's a bit of ash on the back where I pushed it into the back getting it out of the oven. Attachments:

The next home made pizza got incinerated when I tried to get it out. So I built it up again and you can see the white roof. Attachments:

I'm pleased how it performed and now it's been up to near full temperature I'll be happy to fill the cracks and put on the insulation and Vermiculite concrete I've ordered. I've burnt loads of wood today. The sooner it gets insulated the better.
