somewhat predictably, Osmo replied as followed:
"Thank you for your enquiry, We wouldn’t recommend our products in this type of project due to the amount of heat. Sorry we cannot be any more help. Kind Regards Stuart Boyle"
Ah well, I suppose it'll be a question of seeing how it goes when you use it in the fired up oven.

DJ - that answer doesn't surprise me tbh! i'll keep you updated about how it gets on i'm firing up tomorrow for the roast dinner so we'll see! i'm actually going to screw a piece of cement fiber board to the face of the door to protect the oak form the direct heat as i'm scared it might catch alight? unless anyone doesn't recommend this? i dont think theres anything toxic in those types of board?

I made my door with oak and treated it with danish oil.
I have never put the door on when the oven is very hot, always after it's cooled to less than 250 C, but the inside is quite badly split now, though still usable. I think if you have a layer of fibre board or similar on the inside the door will be fine - I always intended to put something on mine but never got round to it!
