Thanks, did you make clay slip or just use the clay as it came?

I made it in 3 batches, the first I puddled a bucket of clay on its own to a reasonable consistancey and then added chips till I thought it was what it should be, this is hard work once it starts to absorb the water and dry up. The following two batches I put the wood chips in first and then sprayed them with water till damp, I then added clay as I went making sure all chips had a coating. This second method was by far the easiest way to mix, taking much less effort and time,

Made the the most of the continuing good weather and applied the final 1"ish mud layer on Monday, all went well and it only took a couple of hours. Tuesday we had a thunder storm and some of the torrential rain accompanying it penetrated the tarp I use to protect the oven leaving one or two small channels where it had ran down the dome, nothing major so smoothed it out with the back of a spoon. Had the tarp off most of today (Wed) and its drying nicely. The picture was taken just after completion. Attachments:
