Terry more on beams...................... Got these from Travis - really helpful guys at my local, mind I buy enough off them ! Basically, you can have any size you want. I ordered 1600mm x 7. A bit ott now I've got them - could have gone lengthways and maybe saved a few quid ! Think they're about £10 each incl vat - see on final invoice. Seems a bit of a 'no-brainer' - total block and beams will be less than £100............. installed in about an hour. No mess, no shuttering, no supports internally, no rebar, no drying time, no mixing (!!!!!!), no wheel-barrows etc etc. Will keep taking photos................................ Simon

Looks like you went for the Woodfire Gourmet oven. I 'd like to know what you think of it when you unwrap it.

I'm loving it (the build not McD's ) not bad at all, and just goes to show the promise of this beam and block idea. So you have beam and block for the structual support, some thermalite (celcon) blocks for insulation all topped and finnsihed with a layer of vermicrete. Looks like it has all bases covered, and just a single days work!

That is some eclectic granite mix there, are the corners blue?
Will make a very good surface to make the pizzas on once it's all finished.

Sherlock, good work so far, sorry I missed your post on the 12th and probably a bit late now, I'm just a little concerned that your oven is far away from the front edge of the slab, which makes loading/unloading the wfo more difficult, particularly for heavy stews/roasts, and to a lesser extent feeding the logs.

Thanks Tony you're probably ( definitely !) correct, but - fortunately I'm over 6ft tall, the plinth is far too big so any further forward would look really out of scale, I've got some big tools !!!!! Just need to get the missus a bit of scaffolding !! Thx again Simon
