Hi, just wondered if anyone has a good source of Caputo flour? I currently use mcdougals '00' flour but think i must try caputo after reading so many recommendations. I'm thinking of a 25kg bag, as soon as my oven is finished i think my visitor count will increase dramatically.
I cant seem to find anywhere in the north (Leeds) that sells it and places like nisalife and a di maria and sons charge a fair bit in delivery£10-£15.
If anyone finds anywhere please post here it may help me or somebody else cheers
Nisalife have 15% off at the moment using code nil15

I bought a 25Kg bag of their Pizza flour from Forno Bravo uk £35.00 delivered. I believe it is the best flour for pizza's and use it also as a plain flour. If you are anywhere near east Herts you can havve some of mine.

Thanks for the offer rocky but I'm in Leeds. Ordered some from nifeislife as I found a £5 off voucher code too "gnl15a". The 15% voucher works Sewell so brought the price down to £28, which is the best i'll get.
Hope these codes help someone else

Thanks will go on and have a look and see if they're still valid, and what it will bring the total costs to for shipping to Scotland.

Hi Dunnes2002
I went onto the nifeislife site and registered with them on Wednesday and used the code you provided whilst ordering a 25k bag at £27.50 plus £10.10 delivery, I then decided to have another think about spending that much money on flour and logged out. The next day I received an email saying 'you've left something in your basket blah blah, and that they want to do all they can to help and offered another 15% off my order if I used another code BAAUV8131361. I did this but when I reached point of payment it was still only showing 15% Discount: £4.13 _Total: £33.47. So I phoned their customer services and they have promised that the additional 15% will be deducted when my order is completed on Tuesday prior to shipping to me for a Wednesday delivery, this should take my final bill down to just over £29 which I think is excellent and works out cheaper than buying my usual '00' from my local Sainsbury's. They were very friendly and helpful so I do not foresee any issues but I will let you know on Tue/wed how I get on.
Thanks for all your help and for providing the codes, it gave me the kick up the ass needed to order the much discussed and sought after Caputo flour.

No problem at all, glad I could give some help to someone after all the help I get with my build.
Mine arrived today with a free gift of some nice wafer biscuits. Will be making my first caputo pizzas shortly.

I buy the 25kg bag from nifeislife as well (they're only 10 mins down the road, so I pop by. They have trolleys, and let you browse their warehouse picking whatever you want... cash-n-carry style. They're very friendly, just bring a THICK coat if you want to browse the fridge/freezer rooms...).
When I get home, I split the 25kg bag into 5x 5kg airtight boxes (the plastic ones with 4 hinge-locks on the sides). These get dumped into a chest freezer until I need them. This way I only have 5kg of flour out at any time.
No issues with any bugs so far, and while my bags last around 4-5 months, I don't see why it should have a problem lasting a bit longer... M
EDIT: Forgot to say, I use the flour for everything. From shortcrust pastry, to bread, to cakes... that's why I go through it in 4 months...

Works great for pasta and coffee too (yes, I am that finnicky about pasta and coffee... I buy it in Italy when I go back, and then bring a supply to last a while).
It has the added benefit that the beans keep their flavour quite a bit longer after roasting; and you don't get any bugs...

I don't have any room in my freezer to store the flour so I have asked a friend if I can dump my 25kg bag in his chest freezer for 24 hours, will this be enough to deter these beasties for the 5 to 6 months that it will take me to consume it?

According to some sources this is an effective way of "sterilising" your dried goods, but I would be nervous about the effect of condensation build up when these goods are reintroduced to a warm and humid environment.
The main thing is good storage and flour stored well should last for at least six months without problems. A clean, cool and very dry location is best i.e. not the kitchen cupboard. Packaging the flour in smaller quantities will help prevent contamination through frequent access; consider using vacuum packaging which is cheap and easy these days, if a little time consuming!
Good luck.
