I have found a few Pompeii Ovens on Google and re-created one. This image is just a concept, but it is to scale and gauge. I have every stage saved and can give measurements and and quantities if it is ever required. The brickwork is co-ordinated to give constant purp and bed joints. If anyone is interested i can give you a link to an article i wrote on setting out Brickwork (Brickwork co-ordination) This image is done by using individual bricks and not just a texture, this gives great control on the design.

Hello iBrick. Just joined the forum yesterday. These drawings are great. I am very interested in reading an article about brickwork, i am a complete novice. One thing i find is that the jargon is completely foreign to non-trade folk. Is there an easy place to get to grips with the jargon. For example what is constant purp and bed joints? I have many other questions but will wait until i have finalised my ideas before looking into more detail! Thanks

Hi, Well if you want to take a look at my site HERE - you will find a lot of article about the subject. There are also some great videos on Youtube showing you the basics. In answer to your question.. Constant bed and perpendicular joints are always used to keep things consistent, the norm is 10 mm, but this can be reduced to 5mm. It takes a little practice to achieve this, but very important. I am happy to answer any specific questions you have.
