How do you like cooking in the oven so far? I've got a great bread recipe i would love to share on here if anyone like the sound of it it's one of Jamie Oliver's I've been baking it for years a family favourite I even baked 8 of them for my engagement party a few years back took them all just out the oven to the party ! Never had anyone not like it it's a rolled bread stuffed with Parma ham, boiled eggs, mozzarella, Parmesan, tomatoes, and loads of basil this is main thing I want to cook in my oven when done

Hi Guys, Thought I had better post the final pics here. Been away form the forum and some great builds going on. These are the final pics with it all finished. I got a local potter to make me a chimney sleeve. I stuffed the gap between the black steel chimney and the pottery chimney with left over insulation blanket and sealed the top with fireproof silicone. We've had quite a few pizza evenings using wood that we've picked up on dog walks - the kids have really taken to it. Its been great to slow cook a day or two later too. Goodluck with the builds. Cheers RokDok.

Hi Paul, that's a one of a kind chimney! Really sets the oven off. good to see you back in the forum what temps have you been getting the following days after firing for your slow cooking?

Lee, The thermometer shows about 200 c after a pizza evening. I'm not sure though that it is entirely accurate and think it must be hotter. 24 hours after putting the door on it'll cook overnight, and even 36 hours after my wife put some ribs in for 8 hours and they cooked. Knowing what I know now I think I would have tried to add even more insulation and maybe had a slightly smaller diameter oven. I'll keep popping up on the forum- especially when the build season starts- I learn't so much here and had so much encouragement that I'd like to kind of pass it on. After pizza last Sunday I roasted some malt and oats in the oven in preparation for another passion- brewing. That's another story. All the best Paul

At the risk of going off topic - I'm guessing you so All Grain, but what method. I've been reading about the brew in the bag method recently.

Here's my door the morning after one of my fire-ups. There is copper on one side and it's filled with ceramic blanket & foil insulation and even so the frame of the door has been turned to charcoal. Back to the drawing board here - no more wood for me- seems like it self combusts at 300 degrees c. So, I'm thinking about maybe some turbo block altho it's going to be really heavy and will need to be in 2 parts, alternatively some vermiculite board- anyone any experience of using this ? Cheers RD

I used vermiculite board stuck with silicone into a metal door frame; has worked well for the last couple of years.
