Paul, Canny has locked that forum for Admin use only as it is used for announcing workshops and classes. You could send him a PM if you want to add something there. I think he would love to know about the session. Alternatively, post what you want in the just cooking forum. We could always move it later.

Ah, I did wonder!
Thanks, Calaf, I'll post something up tomorrow. I've just had the most fantastic day and I need to get it off my chest!
Cheers, Paul

Paul
Whoops......just checked and Calaf is quite right. I locked it in case we had a glut of spammers.....like on the old forum. The forum is now open to members, so please start a new thread.
Haven't visited your blog for a while......I've got lots of catching up to do.
Terry
p.s.....thanks Calaf. I think early senile dementia has taken root

Well, I have to confess I've really neglected this thread. I've had the chiminea in action twice since I last posted, once in May and again on the 30th June. I've written about them both on my blog, but here's the story of last Saturday: This was a brilliant day - my most successful day ever - with the chiminea! I made 6 pizzas and a soda bread focaccia without a hitch – the tops of the pizzas all cooked perfectly – and I didn’t even have to turn the focaccia over to cook the top. I could probably have made another loaf if I could have been bothered. To get the best out of my WFO I’ve realised there are several things I have to do: Make up the dough before firing up the chiminea – and preferably have a couple of pizzas rolled out in advance; Have all the topping ingredients prepped beforehand; Once the fire is well alight, load up the fire with as much wood as it will take, and, when this is half consumed, whack on the first load of charcoal – and don’t be mean with it; When this has settled somewhat, bank up the fire with as much charcoal as possible – and don’t be tight! One more: don’t time the cooking to the evening meal so that you’re baking the last item in the oven at the same time as you’re eating your dinner! It’s so easy to warm up a pizza – either in a low oven if you don’t mind waiting, or a quick flash in the microwave and a minute or two in a dry frying pan if you’re in a hurry. So the message is: Start early! This does, however, bring in a slight problem - in that I enjoy a glass of some thing cool when I’m cooking out doors, but I generally don’t have a drink until about 5. Still, I tell myself, I don’t do this often – so out comes the home made stout! (Not really a problem, then! ) I had the first pizza in and out of the oven in just one hour after lighting the kindling! This is perhaps the one advantage that these chimineas have over the traditional WFO! And I was finished cooking about an hour after that! I’ll post the recipes in the cookery forum shortly Paul

Maybe I can see it because it's my post So stick it where you think it belongs - thanks. I've been a bit distracted of late - but I've been watching all that goes on with the forum. I have to say I've never seen it so busy - must be hard for you guys to keep up. Thanks! Paul

Hi folks Glad to see the forum is doing well, Terry! Been neglecting you guys again - there's only so much time. I had an email from someone asking how I assembled the mini-oven inside my Castmaster chiminea, so l thought I'd rebuild it, taking photo's as I went - which I did on Saturday, and I've just posted about it on my blog. I still have to include the pizza pics and method, but the oven construct is all there: nobreadisanisland.blogspot.co.uk/2013/10/best-chiminea-results-ever.htmlI'll be back...

Hi Paul
Glad you posted the link to your blog.....prompted me to catch up with what you've been doing. That chiminea is quite remarkable....you clever chappy.
Love the 5:2 recipes on your blog. I'm always looking for new ideas for Stef (wifey) and have also been following the thread on "Wildfood". Stef has been on the 5:2 diet for quite a few months and has lost 50lb.....but I'm limited to just about half a dozen meals so always looking to add to the 5:2 repetoire of meals.
Best regards...
Terry

Hi Terry - 5:2 really is a good system, isn't it? I made a trifle last night - before 5:2 I can't remember ever allowing myself such a treat! Sounds like you and your wife are doing great! 50lbs, that's fantastic! Did you come across my calorie counted pizza recipe on my blog? That's right, you can have pizza on a fast day! ;D I've updated my post to include my pizza recipes and pics, with links. I'd really like to link back to my original chiminea adventures on here, but I can't seem to find the threads. The search only seems to go back a little way. Hope you can help. Best wishes, mate, it would be good to meet up again, sometime! Paul

I wish I had her willpower!! I'm interested in your calorie counted pizza....I'll have a look. If you want to find an old thread simply click on "profile"....or click on your username. Scroll down to "Recent activity"....and the "recent posts"....the default setting within your profile is set to search your last 10 posts.....as you have made 66 posts, you can change that setting from 10 to 66....or whatever. It's a bit time consuming but you can see all the posts you've made by doing this. Terry
