James, you might want to consider starting your own build thread, the more information people can access makes decision making, and subsequent building more efficient.

Got the outer arch built now. I was going to do this entirely in brick but decided to used the formed arch that cam with the kit for the inner part. This made building the arch easier as I didn't need a former . The slate is level with the oven floor but has a slight gap to prevent thermal bridging. I also decided to go with a ring of half bricks around the oven to form the bottom of the render. This was partially to use them up as I had loads laying around and secondly to make it easier when insulating and rendering to get a constant shape. The also provided an easy place to insert screws to attach chicken wire too. Since these pictures I have added all the thermal blanket and an additional layer of loft insulation. This is held down by chicken wire, which I then covered with tin foil (leaving a vent hole at the top for moisture to escape) and a second layer of chicken wire. Rendering will probably have to wait till spring now unless we have a mild Christmas week. Adding the insulation has, as you would expect, made a huge difference to the ovens performance. Quick update with the current state. Need to lift the tin foil on top so I can improve the shape. Also need to work out how to space the chimney from teh render, thinking a short (250mm or 300mm) section of 6" flue pipe around the 5" chimney with vermiculite in the cap and a storm collar fitted to the 5" pip to cover the gap. I may even fit a short section of 5" flue to the oven with the 6" around it (say 250mm 6" with 300mm 5" + storm collar). This would allow easy removal of the chimney when the oven was being covered.
