Fife barrel/vault oven build - the leaning tower of pizza!

Bought a couple of chimneys off gumtree. Only wanted one but they came as a pair.


Chimney looks huge but does the job.




Entrance way taking shape.

Not enough room for a nice arch so deciding on another design.






Well earned.


First real drying fire.




Marble cut to the entrance size. Quite chuffed at how well it fits.


A drying fire got so big and hot I decided to throw a pizza or two in.




They came out superbly well.

Thermalite blocks to make the side walls. Really handy these huge blocks as they're structural and insulating. 



Cut to shape for a snug fit inside.








More sideways support.


The entrance design I settled on. The bricks across the top are are holed with cement and rebar through the holes.



All snug in place.



the last picture is the roof panels I've made up from scrap wood I had lying about. I'm tempted to felt it and make it water tight for the winter and then maybe tile it next year. It'll be weather dependant I guess.
