I'm not convinced by the flexibility of lime these days, seems to set hell of hard compared to what it used to. I'm no "specialist" in lime tho I know how to mix it and put it on and skim with it etc etc but I'm no encyclopaedia of technical information on it

A few more photos, this time of the chimney, which I've finally finished. I assembled it in the garage first, as I wasn't wholly convinced whether it would work (aesthetically), but in the end, it's come pretty close to what I envisaged, so I'm really happy with it.The interior is a standard red clay flu liner, and the outside is made up from hand-made, reclaimed 'slips' (half-height bricks) which I in turn cut in half (lengthways) to reduce the weight (and overall dimensions). The top and bottom edging is made from quarry tiles. Cheers, Ash
