Do i need to cut bricks smaller

I am on my 5th chain using an IT. The gap between the neighbouring bricks at their base seems to be getting bigger. Do i need to cut my bricks smaller now i am getting a tighter circle? I am working with half bricks.

Just start tapering both edges slightly of the brick makes for a better joint
