I use a kitchen aid artisan mixer with a spiral dough hook. Works really well. I don't need the mixer above yet

Kichenaid seem to be the mixer of choice, but just can't bring myself to spend that much just yet....

Kichenaid seem to be the mixer of choice, but just can't bring myself to spend that much just yet.... We use a breadmaking machine on dough setting. The trouble is it only takes 1 kg. Forno Bravo forum members report that Kitchenaid machines are not up to it, (they die), for mixing dough.

Kitchenaid = all presentation, no content. Get a Kenwood! Ideally a Titanium Major with the optional stainless spiral dough hook. But even a vintage A901 in good nick off Ebay will do you proud.

KitchenAid mixers work just fine, but you have to be alert to overloading them; or get used to changing the plastic sacrificial gear. Other brands are available.

My kitchen aid has mixed bread dough at least once a week for the last four years. As I make all our bread as well as pizza dough in it. I do keep to the 1kg limit though

I have a kenwood chef. It also works fine. I do think that the bread it produces isn't as good as that kneaded by hand though as the texture seems different!
