To post a grievance against a Modular oven supplier is one thing. To post a scathing attack on a Modular oven supplier, then post the website and telephone number of an other Modular oven supplier on another thread is simply using this forum as a platform for your own means.
This doesn't belong in this forum. Correct protocol will always prevail.
Please go elsewhere to flog your wares.

I am sorry things didn't work out, TBH I make my own ovens (#3 recently finished) And I have a very good idea of how much the materials cost and the quantities needed time taken etc and then I see complete oven kits on ebay for more or less the cost of my materials I often wonder where they cut corners. But they seem to sell many, Just check out www.ebay.co.uk/sch/markhandley2004/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_from=&_ipg=&_trksid=p3686 He seems to sell many ovens and the spec seems good but how he does it for the price I don't know. I hope everything works out well for you, (Where are you based?)

I agree, the quality varies massively in the bernito ovens, i still believe my oven itself is ok, but the door and chimney are a little shoddy. ive had the odd minor crack appear, but ive filled as nessicary

I completely agree. I found my experience with Bernito Ovens just as poor. At first Bernard seemed to be very professional and experienced and was very quick to tell me about his dealing with chefs such as Mark Hix etc. But after a month or two my oven walls started to crack, crumble and come away. I've had to reline most of my oven interior and now my floor/base material is starting to bubble similar the the pictures in this post!
I'm sure that these lightweight ovens can be brilliant, but I wouldn't recommend a Bernito Pizza Oven to anyone!

Thanks for sharing your experience with us. The problem is sellers get away with making all sorts of claims about their product and when they have your money they fail to live up to them. Then when you try to tell people about it you get accused of being negative.
If it is shit, say so and warn others not to make the same mistake.

I reckon mine will last 3-4 yr, after that im going down mojito's method of oil drum covered in refractory. Seems quickest and cheapest way.

Many people say I have built my oven too thick at 3" everywhere but the rep from the refractory company i deal with said she wouldn't trust anything under 4" thick to be strong enough.

I think the question becomes 'strong enough for what?' We are talking dometic not industrial use here.
Wfo domes don't really support any particular weight so, I'm not sure why 2" thick wouldn't be adequate, maybe even less given the intrinsic strength of the design. Fabricating and transporting thinner sections would certainly be more risky.

Hi
I too was taken in by mr murphy, he assured us that the oven ( being an outdoor one) could stay out all the time, we used the cover supplied. Had he told us it had to be taken indoors we would not have purchased it. First all the fireclay fell off the door, then all around the entrance began to crumble away, there were cracks on the outer coating and finally the whole of the base collapsed!! We have been waiting for 12 months for a repair, bernard must be the unluckiest man still alive if the catalogue of disaster laden excuses are anything to go by.
He finally came out after 10 months (when we told him we were away, and declared the oven dead and promised to replace it free of charge, and would deliver it mid april, anothe no show, he promised to come a couple of days ago, guess what??? That was a total of 6 times he failed to turn up, without apology or any explanation!!! I asked him for a refund as it seemed unlikely that he was going to replace the item, his response was that it was our own fault, and he was only going to replace it because he felt sorry for us, which he might actually do if he was in the area!!!
All in all our experience was not good, poor customer service and outdoor pizza oven was not good for purpose.

Hello Snapdragon
I have had to delete the last line of your post for legal reasons.
I haven't touched the bulk of your post as you are venting frustration on a product YOU received from a supplier. This thread was started by someone also in the same position as yourself. This is an "open" forum for Wood-fired oven enthusiasts, so I believe I have no right in censoring posts because of a grievance with a modular supplier.....but. and it's a big but.....I have a responsibility as The forum Admin to make sure that all posts are correctly posted.
To say that all products from this supplier are *******.....is a statement which is untrue.
I am trying to be as fair as I can, but you must accept that I will protect this forum....and it's name at any cost.
Snapdragon.....I really hope you understand my position and I apologize to you in advance if you think I'm trying to protect anybody here....I'm not.
Terry
P.s......you can PM me if you want to discuss this further.

Perhaps I am a rare breed, but I am a very happy Bernito Oven Owner. I spent many months trawling the internet, reading books and listening to peoples experiences, both good and bad. I exchanged over 20 emails with Bernard in the pre-sales phase of purchase. He was open an honest and gave me the pros and cons of his ovens. I would have loved to have invested in a quality Forno Bravo WFO or similar, but as we plan to move soon, would not have been money well spent. My choice was was based on weight and portability (35kg vs 450kg+). Price.(then £670). Delivered to my door, and I could use it immediately. Plus I had a 1hr on site tutorial. I have had 2 friends buy ovens based on my experience, one of them as me no problems, the other had a problem with the floor, and this was sorted within a couple of weeks. My experience is such that in the coming few weeks we have decided to buy a bigger oven from Bernard. I also think that people need to remember that ALL ovens are very organic. Something that may be at -25C and 60mins later 400C, and back to 0C a few hours later is a living thing and subject to enormous stresses, and needs to be treated accordingly. Perhaps because I had asked all the questions and then some, that my oven is going well, I don't know ? We can all only say as we find personally, but I have only had positive experiences with Bernito and their ovens. To anyone who is looking to buy an oven, I cannot stress enough, ask as many questions a you can think of, look as as many ovens as you can. I am sure most WFO owners will, like me only be too happy to fire up their oven and show it off to those who are interested. If anyone wants to see my oven to help them in their decision process, please just ask !
