It all started innocently enough. I was waiting for some more refactory cement to arrive to complete my first WFO ( I will share that story if it works out, if not I will hide under a stone for a while) I was looking on the internet for a replacement burner for my Broil King BBQ, when I saw a Kamodo grill/smoker/oven. The internet journey began. These blighters are very popular in USA despite the price $1000 plus. They do seem to have some unique selling points and cooking qualities. The information kept me entertained for a hour or so, then I came across a YouTube site of GRANDKVISTEN. This guy has made his own Kamodo grill, a Tandoori oven & pizza oven using polystyrene as a mould, perlite and refactory cement as the fire brick. He is a master with stainless steel and a quality engineer. After seeing this man's work, I am going to give up thinking about making perfect kit and go back to throwing sticks for the dog. That is just about my level of ability. Check out the links below. I do think he could use some artistic guidance for his videos though. Aye them Kamodos are mainly sold in the US as the 'egg', enamel bbq/smokers. Apparently you can cook for a really long time (12 hours) on a fraction of the charcoal.
