Got back on Sunday and was hungry... given that I carted back enough tomatoes, cheese and hams to feed a small country, I fired up the oven... it's not finished, but it certainly does bake well After moving the embers/wood to the sides (I opt to have fire on both sides so I don't need to turn the pizza) I took a reading... a tad hot, but made me smile... As Terry would say, "hotter than the devil's own festering arsehole" or more accurately in this case, exactly the same temperature as the devil's festering arsehole

Indeed... baked well though... I probably should post the pictures of the good pizzas... but I tend to do things backwards... here's one of my mishaps... pizza was a tad thin (and undercooked) when I tried checking it the first time... the peel tore a hole... pizza was still edible though! M

Even when they're charred they're still edible! Somehow it seems a shame to have any leftovers and waste when they've been cooked in a WFO

Looking forward to seeing the roof finished. I love slate. And you can use a few of the leftovers as menu and memo boards !!

I've started slating the roof... so far, I've put about 4-5 tiles down and decided that copper nails are WORTHLESS! As you hammer the nails down, you miss the nail and whack the tile...
I've started using black phosphate screws... they may not last as long as copper nails but they certainly are easier to use!

I did promise slating pictures... but I didn't do much slating... I got the first row on one side done, and that's about it. This pictures was taken halfway during the process... The reason I didn't do much is that someone near me chopped down a tree... and was offering the wood for free! Based on the leaves, I think it was a maple... (got a bit greedy and tried to get as much out of that trip as possible... my suspensions bottomed out on the speed bumps on my road)... but I do have quite a bit of wood now. I'm just waiting for someone to ask for a pizza, then I'll put them to work splitting it before I stash it for next summer.... M.
