The challenge.....build a Grill station/Pompeii oven which doesn't exceed 60cm from a 9" garden wall ...
The build is for my employer who recently repaired my roof....this will be his services for my services...
He wants....A Pompeii oven with brick built BBQ and a bespoke "cast in situe" marble/granite worktop...!!!
All 3 will be in line with the WFO bridging the 9" garden wall......setting out...
Blocks will be used in constructing the walls.....only when not seen .....
Fish tail starter ties and cavity wall ties will be used to tie everything together. Inner walls will be built to support the casting of slabs and outer face brick walls will be built for shuttering and cosmetic purposes. 3 lower archways are proposed ....setting out the first arch...

The brickwork is set out on concrete pavers which have been laid on twice whacked scalpings. The major support for the oven will behind the existing garden wall....here is end of day one's progress...

.......always lay dry bricks when setting out pillars for arches so as any brickwork that follows over the top of arches...work bond.....

Day....2 and a half...
The walls to the rear of supporting slab for the oven were build using thermolite blocks. The rear wall was built using "block on flat" on top of a 9" concrete base(it retain's a small depth of soil)....the 9" back wall was tied in with a 4" wall which returned into the existing wall. This wall was shuttered so as my concrete slab will become the outside surface at the rear ...and the front of the slab will but up against the "pretty bricks" at the "pretty end".
