Adding an Avatar to your profile

If you wish to add an Avatar to your profile...

Click from the menu at the top of the screen. Then click 'Modify profile' and you will see a number of options for customising your profile.

Under 'Personal Information' you will see an option for selecting an Avatar from a limited selection of images. If you wish to add a custom Avatar of your own making you can specify the Avatar URL to an externaly hosted image or you can specify the URL to an image that you have uploaded onto this forum in a thread as an attachment.

You can reply to this message if you want somewhere to upload an Avatar, then use the URL in your profile.

How to determine the URL of an uploaded image?

Below you will see a thumbnail of an uploaded image as an example. Now it will depend on your browser...

in IE
Right click on the image, select 'Properties', hilight and copy the URL

in Firefox
Right click on the image, select 'Copy image location'

In Chrome
Right click on the image, select 'Copy image URL'

You can use .jpg/jpeg, .gif or .png formats but make sure your Avatar file is no more than 100x100 pixels.

for some reason it doesn't work for me. I get the URL correctly for the image ukwoodfiredovenforum.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=downloadattachment&board=info&thread=72&post=769&key=28OV8DjnjD8x0HRTr5Y1 but when I add this to my profile it doesn't generate an avatar. I save my profile but when I go back an look at the profile the URL in the AVATAR field has disappeared. I've gond through this save of the profile 3 times.

JPG is 100x100 so I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong?
