When you attach the rough blank to the lathe you just screw the faceplate to the timber. The screws are going into the wood you are going to remove inside the bowl. When you reverse the bowl to turn the inside, the chuck expands inside the hole/recess on the base (pic3.)

Fascinating set of pictures. Love the way you make the grain in the wood come to life.
Are you doing any fairs or craft shows over the Xmas period?

Thanks terry, I am pleased how they have turned. That is the beauty of turningn you can have no idea how the grain looks inside the blank until you turn it. I have a craft show next saturday, bit last min so busy in the evenings turning out some stock. I will keep the pictures coming. Rich
