Quick question. I live near manchester and am off on the right days to goto grill stock. I love my BBQ and pizza oven but am a Vegitartian. I don't mind people eating meat or the smell of it cooking but don't want to spend £10 on a ticket if there is going to be nothing of interest for me. The website doesn't look very open minded

if you like outdoor cooking, live blues, rockabilly etc bands, talking to people, risk getting a soaking in the rain and chiiling out then go for it the alternative is staying at home, shopping, weeding, carboot sale, watch daytime TV, light your WFO and risk getting a soaking in the rain.
You can bring some sandwiches or veggie food and have a picnic
you will get a lot for your £10
PS, what is not openminded about the site ?

Surfingspider
I only stopped for a short while last year, but vegetarian or carnivore, There's loads going on if you're a griller. There's the usual trade stands selling everything for BBQ's and many food stands selling an array of different foods and the grill competition (I think it's on the Saturday) where teams of Grillers compete against each other with all different types of bought and home made contraptions to win one of the many categories in this competition.
Conic......We're still meeting around 2pm by Dr Sweetsmoke's stand in the competition area.
I'm also looking forward to seeing the Jamie Oliver ovens in action for the first time.
To anybody else who is going......see you all there.

What a brilliant day I had yesterday (11th May 2013) at Grillstock Bristol. It was great to meet up again with Lesley (Rivergirl) and meet Carlo (Conic) for the first time. Lesley said she had a few "bits and bobs" which she brought over from France....here's the bits and bobs.... ..which included about 60 cookery books, a beer can chicken roaster, ceramic chicken roaster, Masala and Cajun BBQ rubs, home made chutney, home made smoked garlic and smoked salt and a pack of Malz beer (for malz bread). The round piece of Oak/Walnut? is a "grilling plank" for r2d2 (she also brought another half dozen of these for people she knows at the festival. The T towel at the rear was a nice prezzie from Conic. Me and Lesley...(we managed to acquire V.I.P. passes for our group The brilliant Dr.Sweetsmoke...and Lesley (he won the best Brisket at last years event... Not sure if Surfingspider was there, but it was truly a brilliant event and there was something there to meet all tastes. Thomas and Mark, the 2 Jamie Olivers "Union Jack" chefs .... were churning out pizzas and roasted veggies etc all day for people to sample from the Dome 60 and Valoriani ovens at the JO stand and the well talented Andrew Manciocchi..... (founding member along with Matt Draper of JO ovens) put on a seperate display of the dome 60 at the exhibition stand (I'll write a seperate post on the JO ovens in their section of the board). One dissapointment was I never got to sample the foods that were being cooked for the competitions. What made it worse was that I kept bumping into Conic who said they're giving away BBQ ribs over there......when I got there they were all gone. Next time I saw him he had a mouthful of Brisket...."can't eat any more Terry"....there's loads of the stuff over there......when I got there....it was all gone (I think he was just winding me up) Anyway...a good day was had by by all. Well worth the trip over that muddy river. (The Severn Estuary) Terry

Gutted to miss it this year, looks a great day Though I must say RG looks a tad worried in the pic with the Doc Cheers Marcus I had just had a swig of Als buffalo trace ;D Shame that you missed it this year ! it was absolutely thronging with people and the queues for food and drinks went around the block !!! NEXT year dont I will be parking at Conics car park find. It was only a skip away and £2.50 instead of the £12.90 we paid never mind the J.O vip passes made up for it
