I'm looking to cook some tandoori chicken in my pizza oven but am not sure about temperatures. Now I know tandoors run hotter than my pizza oven so I was thinking get the oven as hot as possible. However what little advice/recipes I can find say build a smaller fire and cook around 250C Anyone got any experience?

A quick google suggests a tandoor should run at 280-330C - which a refractory brick oven should have no issues reaching. In fact, I cook pizzas at higher temps than that M.

Well I don't know where i got the misconception that tandoors ran at about 700C from then?
In that case it is tandoori chicken and nan bread for dinner tonight.

Making me even more hungry...
I got the oven up to 700C last night in a massive drying fire (vault 738C, floor 300-something)... may have to try this !
