Thanks Joe, very easy to do, is a great way to hot smoke, just chuck a log of smoking wood on some embers on a bbq. Yes that's my ProQ frontier base in the intro, what gear do you use? Cheers Marcus

ive got a pro q excel and i use a party q pit controller with it. i got fed up with getting up every couple hours through the night to check temps! i also have an offset but that doesnt get used since i got the pro q its too expensive to run because its only thin metal and hard to keep a steady temperature!

Brilliant Marcus!!.......I was expecting you to push your thumb into the mackerel and tease even more by pulling a piece off and taking a bite...
I'm similar to Kipper....last time I caught them was with a trip to Tenby with the army cadets....about 30 years ago. We simply gutted them and threw them on an old wire bed frame which had the embers of a fire underneath. I still remember them as the best fish I have ever tasted.
Note to self....must get into BBQing and "smokin" this year.
