Hi all, Glad to be part of this forum. Im about to build my self a pizza oven from fire bricks. Which i have already purchased. In the process of making my base foundation. Iv dug up 193x140x14cm of soil which will be my base for the stand and oven. Iv layed some crushed stones in the base. My question is.
1. Do i need to add sand to level the base prior to cement?
2. Will this depth be ok to carrry the weight of a pizza oven which will be approx 1m inside diameter?
3. Do i need rebar?
4. What mix concrete should i use? (4.1?) Ballast and cement?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank all in advance.

Yes, although it depends a bit on the size and therefore the weight of your oven. 3. Yes 4. yes and vibrate the mix after pouring it.

Im estimating the weight of everything on the foundation base to be around possibly a tonne. This includes the wfo base, oven its self, stand ect. Didnt thunk about the sheet for damp. Will look into this.

Can anyone suggest what size reinforment mesh i need to use for a foundation base of 6inch deep. Would a 6mm A142 do or do i need a thicker size?

It partly depends on the size and therefore the weight that the slab is required to support. You can put in minimal reinforcing and risk failure, but there are no problems with over- engineering. If it were mine I'd be going with a heavier mesh or use the lighter one and add some additional 12mm bars in both directions.
