Hi everyone, I'm new to the forum. I'm planning on buying my first wfo kit next week (I don't do diy, so self-build is a non-starter!).
Been looking at the mezzo oven at thestonebakeovencompany.co.uk. Very tempted because to my untrained eye it looks great. Have a look and let me know what you think please.
I'll post some photos once I buy my oven.
Thanks

I don't know anything about this type of oven but welcome to the forum. I hope someone is along soon to help.

Hello Callanfin........welcome to the forum
I'm another who can't give you any first-hand knowledge of this oven, but I know it's had good reviews and good customer feedback from guys on the forum and other sites I visit.

We have just bought a Mezzo 76, it is currently sitting in our garage, awaiting building a base. The service was very good and delivery easy. The oven looks very high quality. Just need to get building a base!

welcome to the forum :-)
the ovens do look very nice, it seems to be a bit of a dark art building these ovens, each supplier has their own secret sauce that makes their oven different.
I am sure they all work great as in principle they are very simple devices, tried and tested proportions let the fire inside burn well and the rest is then taken care of. They look well engineered and sturdy which is quite key as the fire will be quite hot and you don't want the dome to disintegrate over your food. I like the mesh idea on this oven for extra strength.
my advice would be call the company and talk to them about the oven, get an idea for their after sales service and such, you can also ask them how much curing the oven requires and also about its insulation levels etc.
you can check our modular build section here to see what folks have used, also our old forum had quite a few modular builds to check, you have to register to see the photos tho.

Thanks for the responses. I've taken the plunge and ordered a mezzo. People at thestonebakeovencompany.co.uk. have been very helpful so far. I'll take some photos as I'm putting it together and will try to post them on here. Once I'm up and running I'll post a review

can't wait to see some pics and hear how you get on. We always get asked with regards to kit ovens but have little to help others with so anything you can share would really help :-)
what are the plans for the base as the ovens are very heavy and need something substantial to live on.
also plan the route to get the oven to its final destination and rope in as many hands as possible as they are not light and you don't want to be layed up with a bad back rather than cooking in your newly installed oven.

Excellent advice......thanks. It comes in 3 pieces, the heaviest of which is 100kg, so pretty heavy. Given my total lack of diy skills (and time!) I have ordered the base that goes with the oven (bit of a cheat, but will never get an oven if I rely on my diy!)
