very nice, I actually noticed sainsburys was selling hand made butter on its deli recently, something I do want to try is eating proper butter.
Let us know how that comes out, how long do you think this home made butter will keep for?

Aye when I were a lad we used to make butter in a large glass bottle that was turned with a handle - I remember it took ages!

I've also been having some fun with the magimix today, 12 litres of double cream fell into my lap free of charge at the beginning of the week. Half went to the pub in the village to be exchanged for liquid refreshment and I have turned the rest into butter. I tried for a Fleur du Sel style butter and added 3% by weight Maldon. It is very salty and savoury, with a little crunch and quite frankly bloody delicious.

Place up the road from me was advertising "hand-cut kindling" at £2 a bag. I suppose being hand cut makes it hugely superior and justifies the silly price. My own kindling is cut from leftover timber with a circular saw and if necessary split with a billhook. It costs me nothing.
