Hi , Unfortunately the lovely weather we've had this winter has taken its toll on the oven , so I thought I would repair / alter the oven somewhat . 1st I cut out the cracks with a mortar rake , then filled . So instead of re-rendering I had a moment of madness , At work I now have a near endless supply of some very old clay bricks , so I spent a few hours cutting some faces off them , about 60 bricks so I now have 120 brick tiles and some of them will cut in half. Made some mortar and made a start .
The pics was taken early on but Iv nearly covered it all , not got any pics till tomorrow as I had to cover it up due to rain .

Hi Cec Can ask what you have been using to cut the bricks with as that's the way I want to finish my oven top . Also did you consider covering the whole of the dome with a render and then using the cut brick like a tile ? Ken. Look forward to your reply

I cut the bricks 1st of all with a still saw to get the long sides 1/2 " thick , then for the halfs I used a 4" angle grinder with a diamond cutting disc . I was going to re-render the whole oven but I'm not to keen on the look , I always wanted it to look solid brick ,

That look bute, And just as I envisaged my oven looking. Unfortunately, although I've made the wooden base I'm not allowed to go any further, any one know a good solicitor RD

I got all the "you spend more time out there, than you do with me" comments. I just carried on... A couple of "huh...can't hear yous" over the sound of a grinder or mixer... Once that first pizza came out...all was forgiven!

I've had that but our lass loves the pizza oven so I get away with it a bit , I've just been out to give it a coat of sealer ( patio and brick water proofer ) so that shoud stop some water ingres in the future .
