Picked up the masonry saw today. It's a monster. Haven't tried it out yet but I know it's going to work well - the sound of the blade spinning at high revs gave me a "man moment" just by itself.
Right. Next up, build an accurate jig and cut some bricks.

You know the rules..........pics or it didnt happen The paint is all rusting off from the table part, but it's all good solid 3mm or so steel and I really don't care about appearances.

My thoughts exactly. And I have 100 square metres of patio to lay so it seemed like a good investment....

Just a couple of things for you to check.
If you need to buy a new blade, make sure that it is designed to run wet, unless of course you don't intend to use water.
The water pumps frequently pack up, and if your one has, any cheap small pond pump will do. You might want to remove the flaking paint from the inside of the tray to stop the pump from blocking though.

Quick question - I am thinking ahead, but is it OK to use this type of saw to cut rebar for my slab? I believe it's a pure masonry wet cut diamond blade on there now....

Simple answer....NO!.....buy a cheap carbon steel cutting blade to fit your cutter. They only cost a couple of quid each...if that. Cutting steel with your diamond tipped stone cutting disc will ruin that blade in seconds.
That's a nice bit of kit you bought....

Thanks for the advice. I think I need to go and buy an angle grinder at some point, so I will make sure to get a masonry diamond blade as well as a steel cutting one....

was a "deal" posted yesterday on hotukdeals for a 5" grinder from screwfix that had great reviews. No idea if there are even cheaper grinders if you want a disposable one or at least are not too bothered about long term performance.
or there is the buy 2nd hand on ebay and should be able to sell on again for similar money option.

You're welcome - just bring some firebricks to play with... I am a bit of a tool freak - and it just happened to pop up on eBay so I had to have it! Still haven't even turned it on since I got it back home, but at least I know my brick (and paving) cutting needs are taken care of. Once I am done, I will probably put it up here in case anybody wants to give me a few quid for it.
