To any new members or visiting guests......welcome.
Your own self-built Wood-fired oven will give you a great feeling of achievement and will be a true asset to any outdoor cooking enthusiast.
There are many options of Wood-fired ovens that a good D.I.Yer can build ranging from a simple Clay oven to a more elaborate Fire-brick Pompeii or Vault oven. There's an oven to suit all pockets. From a Clay oven costing next to nothing...depending on your skills in obtaining re-claimed materials or clay dug from your own garden......to an Alan Scott type commercial fire-brick Vault bread oven costing many thousands. There are of course domestic outdoor fire-brick ovens ....or ovens using reclaimed clay bricks that will conform to any budget available.
Your best friend when thinking about building your own Wood-fired oven is research. Decide exactly what your budget is and have a good look through all the builds on this forum. There are many photo diaries with many oven builds which members have kindly shared with us which may help you decide which type of oven to build.
We used to post on another forum, but due to a couple of hitches we migrated to this forum. The old forum will always stay on line as it contains a wealth of info and many, many Wood-fired oven builds, with photo diaries of each stage build. To be able to see all the links and images from the old forum you need to register as a member, but just like this forum, membership is free, takes about 2 minutes to register is safe. Here is the old forum....
