Ok,
so as i have found 2-3 extra areas that need pointing i will do them tomorrow.
but i was hoping to start the drying process next week. plan is as follows.
1 - after 1 week from inital build light few candles
2 - next day put good few more candles in to increase heat a bit
3 - small fire maybe with just twigs and paper
4 - larger fire the day later
but would4 days be enough for the last few brick points to dry out. it will only be handfull of mortar in tiny gaps.
i no i am inpatient just cant wait get 1st pizza out.
want make sure all ok before even start insulating and building a chimney

if the pointing is only very minor I would do the drying of the main brickwork and then point after as this can then dry naturally whilst you sort the insulation. after 1 week the oven should be good for a little more than a few candles, I think (although I did not do it) pre lit coal spread sparingly round the oven floor is good to dry it out. Long low heat is what you want. I saw coals recommended by a modular oven maker on youtube and I think it could be a good fairly clean way to do it. www.bbbqs.com/Forum/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=169has some interesting info from a smoking angle on this, after all this is being burnt where you put food, you want to be sure its not full of chemicals. Restaurant grade lumpwood or a good local supplier etc. anyhow its just an idea
