I know from a number of posts that Terry has used it without I'm assuming any problems.

I've got 3 bags in the garage ready to go on mine, but i've been seriously procrastinating about my oven re-fit. But...
Just last night, i hacked off all the damaged Lime Render and made a start!
I might still be a way off getting K-Rend on though, sorry.

ah ok no problem! you installed an insulated flue recently didn't you danno? how have you found it, have you had a full firing since its been on? if so does much heat transfer through it? i haven't fired mine up yet but i'm thinking it will still be hot to the touch on the outside although i may be wrong! hopefully i'll find out this weekend anyhow!

I have a 1m. twin walled with 150mm inside diameter flue on mine and even though it gets fairly warm it doesn't get very very hot on the outside.
After the oven has cooled down a bit I remove my flue at the moment and generally its fine to lift out by hand.
Cheers Petec

thanks petec, i'll report how mine gets on after this weekend hopefully! i'm just concerned about it cracking the render around the flue, but i'm going to leave an expansion joint anyway i think! on a full firing the flames will be roaring up the chimney i wouldn't be suprised if they came out of the top at times,is this normal for everyones firings or have i been firing too furiously!! i read somewhere that the oven will only absorb the heat at a set rate anyway so maybe i need to throttle it down abit! not sure if thats true though!

and got a waterproof coat on the oven too this morning! to cut a long story short i was talking on another thread about the possibility of using a resin type system for waterproofing the oven ( what you typically find on flat roofs and the like) anyhow it was decided that the oven would have to by dry when applied so not to seal any moisture in, well with the dry weather we've had here and a couple of full firings this weekend i went for it and gave it a coat! fingers crossed!!! Sorry for the resurrected thread, but what was the coating and did it work? Was it applied over existing render? Thanks

Sorry for the resurrected thread, but what was the coating and did it work? Was it applied over existing render? Thanks hi albacore, sorry for the belated answer I've only just noticed you'd commented, yes it was applied over the existing render and its been absolutely fine. It was called protec by polyroof, A friend of mine has a flat roofing company so he brought me a bit of leftover product! heres a link polyroof.co.uk/products/protec-system/

Thanks; one thing that worries me about these coatings is the fact that they are waterproof! Simplistically, that of course is what you want, but just wondering if there is any danger of moisture subsequently getting trapped in the oven shell and not being able to get out? Also it looks like the Polyroof is a closed shop supply chain?

There are plenty of different cold applied systems like Protec but none of them are cheap and all the manufacturers like to have people that know what they're doing to apply them so they don't end up with leaky roofs and negative feedback. The best thing to do is try and find a local roofing specialist who may let you have half a tub that they have left from a job,

yea daggles right, find your local flat roof company and enquire! you want flexible product though! check out sikalastic you might be able to get hold of that. I just made sure my oven was bone dry when I applied and it's been fine
