I finally got around to upgrading my oven after a winter of neglect. I have posted some pics of the process on my blog. I fired her up for the first time this weekend and she worked like a dream! What do you think? clayoven.wordpress.com/2013/05/30/clay-oven-2-0/Cheers all Simon

Simon ....really nice repair job and the finished oven looks spot on. I like your arch former....the correct way btw....I'm lazy, and being a builder I can always get my hands on some celotex (polystyrene)..so I use this for my arch formers. Good tip on the brackets to remove the arch former. I use folding wedges under my arch former so when the folding wedges are removed, the former drops down slightly so you can remove the former as soon as the keystone is laid (this allows you to clean the underside of the arch while the mortar is still "green"....... .....on my last build.. ukwoodfiredovenforum.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=pompeiiovens&action=display&thread=1031 ....I cut corners and laid flat wedges under my arch former. When I tried to remove the flat wedges (while the arch was still green) I caught 2 of the arch bricks.......and the bloody lot fell down (shhh..don't tell anybody). Terry p.s....If you have any courses/workshops coming up please let me know so I can add them to here... ukwoodfiredovenforum.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=workshopsandclasses
