I have a Swiss grill gas with rotisserie. charcoal with side burning cradle ( I tend to use that if I want anything cold smoked because its attached to my Smoking cupboard) A Cobb which is mostly used for picnics and camping but I may be upgrading it to the oval one. and the daddy of them all my primo. Like the big green egg but oval not round. I can get far more on it than the egg and when I get around to it will get the extra shelving. A brilliant foldaway one which we use as a chiminea when picnicking or camping And my favourite before my Cobb came along a Burmese cook pot (very heavy for carting to picnics and stays hot for ever) Not counting the chimineas because although I do cook on them they are mostly for wok cooking , mulled wine or cocoa etc
The ceramic BBQ for me is the best buy. Although it was expensive it is so frugal with the charcoal and I could use it as a cold smoker .

I have a 5 burner beefeater stainless steel and a ProQ smoker (pictured at 830 this morning when the shoulder of pork went in) Yesterday I cooked pizzas for 20 for my daughters 13th birthday. I really rate both and did loads of research before buying. The beefeater is superb for spit roasting and can easily do 2 chickens at once. I had never really used charcoal before buying the smoker before but it really is easy to use and one load will keep it going for at least 5 hours. The shoulder of pork has now been joined by 5 racks of ribs and 2 pounds of chicken wings.

I have two Weber 21" Kettle grills (one currently sporting the Weber Charcoal Pizza Oven accessory) and a Weber Smokey Mountain upright smoker.
I've always preferred charcoal over gas for flavour and have been a long time Weber user. I love the control you get with the kettle grills.
But no WFO yet.... :-(
Oh - and a Cobb cooker as well. Nearly forgot about that one. That gets taken on picnics and days out....

Terry thank you!! Reburner I have had a Cobb for about 8 years . They are a brilliant bit of kit. You only need a sandwich bag of coals or one of their special ones for a whole cook up. Had a go at the new oval one at the BBQ festival in Bristol this year, still on the should I shouldn't I phase at the moment but if we take off in our gobur next year it will be my only form off outdoor cooking and I like the extra cooking area on the oval. If you are serious about getting one , Phil the BBQ chef using it at the rest gave me a code no. To get 5% off the price!!

I like them a lot as well. You can roast a whole chicken in one.
It always gets envious glances when we go to outdoor events and cook a whole meal while other people are burning a few sausages on their B&Q disposable BBQs. It has most of the control you get with a weber kettle grill, just in a portable package.
Also - a major benefit to it is that the outside never gets more than a bit warm - so no worries about burning grass or tables etc...

I do really lust after a Kamado style ceramic cooker though (Big Green Egg, Kamado Joe, Primo etc..). I very nearly pulled the trigger on an XL Big Green Egg last year. I've been after one for years and I actually managed to win a #9 (ultra large size) original Kamado that someone had imported from the US years ago. I got it for a song and was about to go and pick it up when the guy mailed me to say he and his mate had dropped it while moving it and broken it. I was heartbroken. Sulked for days. I really doubt one of those will ever crop up in the UK again. Hence the quest to build a WFO. I know it's not the same thing, but it will satisfy my heartfelt need for a ceramic oven and do better pizza too.

adm - there's a lot of that on ebay... auction ends, seller gets an offline offer from someone else for more... it's an easy way to win things cheap... wait till the auction ends, so you don't contribute to raising the price; then message the seller and offer him £xx more...
I won an item a while ago, worth £300ish, for £60. The seller messaged me the day after saying that her dog ate/chewed it. I asked the seller for some pictures of the "dog damage" as I may still have been interested in the item. No response. Then, I noticed that the same day, they relisted the item for £150 buy-it-now for another ebayer, who bought it immediately.
Took some screenshots, wrote a polite letter informing the seller that under UK Auction Law, once the hammer falls the item is my property, and she had no right to resell my property. I asked for the £90 difference or the item, given that she sold my item, and that I was prepared to bring this to a small claims court.
Shockingly, I received a £90 paypal payment that very evening! It was the one time that I felt "good" about righting a wrong on ebay... M

Wow spinal defiantly something to keep in mind , as that happened to me as well, but with a log burner years ago!! Adm that was my dream egg when I first saw it years ago. I saved for about a year to get an outside kitchen type BBQ . Got a deal on my primo and the Swiss grill instead !!

:-) The seller actually sent me some pictures of the damage - so I know it wasn't just a higher offer. The dome had a serious crack all the way through, the damper cap had been smashed and a load of tiles were missing.
Then a few weeks later, the same item appeared back on eBay again under a different seller - so I guess the original owner had made his mate buy it. The damage to the dome wasn't mentioned, so I guess he had tried to patch it up, but the damper cap was missing and the tile damage was still there.
I did email the new seller to ask about the cracked dome, but he never replied. I also emailed the manufacturers and got a price for a new damper cap, but in the end I decided that as I knew the dome was cracked it would be far too risky a proposition.
I still keep watching ebay and looking for a deal on a good ceramic cooker though....

Some great BBQ's, my BBQ collection seems to be growing, in Devon I have an oil drum smoker, a ProQ frontier, my wfo, and am trialling a kamado joe and bradley smoker. I aberdeen I have a 40quid barrel BBQ that I have modded and works really well for a lot of the Dirty recipes I've been doing recently. Cheers Marcus
