We built our kitchen with counters at elbow height (probably six inches higher than regular) - most kitchens are built as standard for seemingly four foot six people from 1940. Our indoor kitchen oven is also raised.
Likewise with the WFO - do you want to bend right down? Build at a comfortable level that suits your stature.
Avoid back ache and build to suit.

Tony advises elbow height is the best ergonomic level. Mine is lower and I have to stoop a bit.

I also recommend elbow height as a good working height for a domestic outdoor WFO. You still have to stoop a bit, but if you are cooking casseroles or deep pan dishes you can still peer into the vessels with ease.
My commercial mobile WFO is higher again, but this is used 99.9% of the time for pizza's one after the other for long periods of time.

Terry errr *cough*.... slipped that one in quite silently, and with a total lack of photos too I might add but to the OP I think there are no such things as stupid questions, just stupid answers.

Yes I did borrow it.....but now I'm buying it. Laying my cards on the table....I'm 53 years of age and still laying concrete blocks for a living...and it's killing me !!!....I would love to move away from site work and make a living either baking in...or building WFO's. I have used the mobile WFO on a couple of occasions, but this year will be the first time I will try making a living by using it. The only pics of it is when I used it at Bethesda bakers meet last year.... www.flickr.com/photos/b5pics/page2/ I also have 5/6 builds this year penciled in from people who want one build......not enough for me to quit site work......but I'm working on it. Hey - good luck I reckon there's a great business opportunity to franchise mobile pizza ovens. I even feel fired to give up my rural retreat and make a few squillions...
