Okay so I have had my clay oven for over two years and never cooked a pizza on it! even when I came back full of J.O ,s pizza and flat bread I did them on my primo BUT OM goodness double yummy ! Did a spicy roasted pepper base with chorizo , mozzarella and banana , my favourite. The dough was made with a biga for extra taste. They are not pretty or round but they cooked in about a minute and the taste was fab . voila my first pizza in Bert. Attachments:

The bottom was a little gritty but I will make a mop for next time. This is roasting peppers and tomatoes , If I am doing anything wrong please tell me!! Or do you get used to the grit. Ps I burnt the bread but have a spelt loaf to go in when the pizzas are finished. Attachments:

It look's very rustic Rivergirl! I sweep the oven floor with a brush then wrap a damp cloth around the brush to clean it prior to putting the pizza in. Great photo's and how deep is your oven door?

It's a huge slice of ash that came down about 5 years ago!! That pizza cooked so quick that by the time I had grabbed the camera it was caught slightly but it still tasted great.

What a beautiful oven and a great Pizza. Nothing worse than a gritty bottom on ones pizza, a problem I used to suffer ! On ebay I brought a sisal hand brush and attached a broom Handle so I can reach into the oven safely. This I keep in a bucked of water by the oven, and pre-pizza sweep oven floor with damp brush, also hand if you get lots of flour build up on the oven floor ! Burnt flour is quiet bitter ! Hope that helps, Muddy

Thanks , I did use a brush dipped in water but it was a short handle! Ouch! Good idea about fixing it to a long handle!!!

Terrys little idea of 4ft of 15mm copper pipe, with a slightly flattened end works well for me! You just have to remember to take your mouth away from the end before inhaling!
