Hi Kipper
Rockwool do supply a product that is suitable for our means.....and high temperatures. I can't find the product code, but this product is usually used specially in the vulnerable attic spaces between new terraced housing. This rockwool product can withstand repeated high temperatures and is one of their high quality products. Any other rockwool product is not suitable.....Most rockwool insulation products are guaranteed fire-protection...to withstand heat to a high temperature, but most of these products with hold back a fire...only once. After being subject to a fire...or intense heat a normal rockwool product will turn back to powder after this initial heat....it does what it's meant to do....it saves lives, but only works once.
.....just make sure this is a high quality fire retardant rockwool product......or buy a thermal blanket. Thermal blankets can be be bought from any refractory supplier, like Kilnlinings...or "Sheffield Insulation" supply them to joe public (just google their name to find your local supplier.
Hope that helps...
Terry
