I loved the wood work of the roof the most but i find it so intruiging about how cob is deemed a lower grade material. Its basically unfired brick, and so much more environmentally friendly. The way houses are built these days is just so wrong. Why not use the materials that get carted away to actually build the house! I love Devon and all those cob houses down there, they are so beautiful and organic, and many are centuries old. It'd be interesting to see how many of these hastily erected, glued together, plastic fantastic modern estate houses are still around in 2, 3 or 4 hundred years from now! That was one of the better Grand Designs in the old model, and heck he was one strong fella! Arms like legs! And his lads who created that tree design in the wall...loverly!
