Hi jemb. not used charcoal in the oven but at a guess I would say it wouldn't produce enough heat or build up enough embers to heat the oven fully.
However (and sorry for jumping on your thread) I have been wondering about the possibility of using coal in the oven? I know a lot of restaurants over the pond use it but don't know a lot about it. I play darts with the local coal merchant and he's gonna drop me a few bags of smokeless to try. Does anyone know about using it? And if it's safe to do so? I was thinking I could get the fire roaring then chuck a few big lumps on! Any thoughts?
Cheers
Keith
