Hi guys,
I started my project last year, but had to halt construction mid way due to injury. Anyway, I'm doing an homage to Vic's Pompeii... by homage, I really mean replicate as best I can... it's my first attempt, and I'm no bricky!
Anyway, I got the wood store and both slabs done last year (set thermolites) before I had to jack it in, and I'm now ready to pick up where I left off. But, I have a question...
Do any of you know if mono blocks will be okay for the cooking floor? I was given a pile of them, and I'm assuming that'll be okay, but thought I'd double check before charging ahead.
I'll post some progress pictures when I get a chance.
Thanks in advance
Gareth

Hey Gereth, I'm no expert on building by any means, but monoblocks wont cut the mustard when it comes to the oven floor - i think they're mostly colored concrete and i would expect them to shatter on exposure to that kind of heat!
Your best bet is to get onto Kilnlinings and they'll sort you out with firebrick.
(i'm also in scotland btw - just outside Edinburgh)
Cheers Stevo
