Hello people, years ago i imported an iron dome tandoor from india weighing 30kg www.munnilaltandoors.com/product_list1.php?cat=1After some time i have now decided to go ahead and build/assemble it. The only problem is i have no idea where to start, any ideas from anyone?? From a confused guy in manchester

I can't get your link to load so had a google. Am in love with the copper tandoor! Can't help you about siting though. Can you chat your local Indian rest. Up and ask their opinion?

Hi mo had a look at your link, if I understand right the tandoor look as though they come in one piece but you need to house them in something and fill round them with insulation is that right? I'm sure there's one or two members on here with tandoors so hopefully they will chip in and help you. I'm guessing you need to build a brick surround maybe with a fire brick bottom built round that the tandoor can sit on raised up to allow space for a fire underneath and a side entrance at the bottom to build your fire underneath and allow airflow in. Then fill round the lot with loose vermiculite probably 3 or 4 inches and some sort of a lid to keep the weather out when not in use. I maybe completely wrong though sorry! Post a picture up if you can it will help other people to help you out
