Hello,
I'm new to the forum but have been lurking for 6 months or so!
I built a small BBQ last summer in my home in Cookley, Worcestershire and now want to extend the outdoor kitchen with a WBO.
I have sketched up a rough idea having looked at some of the other examples. Could anybody let me know if there are any real clangers in my design? Namely, will I need to put anything over the fire bricks forming the barrel?
The BBQ was built without planning a WBO so now I would like the oven level with the front, which leaves about 1.4m to the fence.
Thanks in advance!
Tommy.

Hi tommy Looking at your sketch , the chimney looks to part of the main barrel, it would be better to incorporate this in the front arch , this means your oven will reach a greater temperature , hold heat longer and generally work better. As for covering the fire bricks , it will need insulating and generally for this you cover your oven using aceramic fibre blanket, with chicken mesh over this then a vermiculite render and then to make it nice and smooth a cement based render over this. Have a good look through other build threads , there is plants of pictures and instructions to use. I can't show you mine as my ovens not finished, yet ! Hope this was helpfull.
