I'm part way through my build and I'm looking to source a chimney. I have a steel one which I know is suitable However I'd like to use something which looks nicer. I've been offered some pot/clay underground drainage pipe. Its roughly the correct size but I wasn't sure if it would stand the heat. I suspect it'll be fine but thought I'd check if anyone else has used it

I used a short length of 6" saltglazed drain pipe for mine, and it was the first thing to crack... though I've not bothered to replace it (yet) as it still works as a chimney. I plan to slide a length of steel pipe over it when I can scrounge some, but that's to raise the overall height, not because of the crack. Chas
