I've just finished mine, and though it incorporates many valuable tips gleaned from this forum, there's one I never saw or thought of myself at the time, though I've seen it since on other ovens:
You don't want your peel to catch on the floor, whatever it's made from, so make it as perfectly smooth and regular as possible - and if using tiles, arrange them 'diamond shape', not square on. Less likely to catch on the edges.
Anyone else have one 'diamond' tip to pass on?

Would putting an angle on your peel help? Maybe turn the tip of it up a bit?

G'day The one big... Suddenly .. The...Well why couldn't I think of that moment... was the H shaped hearth!!!! Instead of barking my back on the big crawl to the back of that huge wood stowage. I could have had 2 smaller, easy to manage wood storages with two entrances. Front to back entrances, side to side. Doesn't matter. 2 shallow easily managed storages. No crawling now to unknown wood at the back. And with a central wall it's actually strengthens the stand! Regards dave

Typical - a great idea Dave but just too late as I've just finished my stand. However I am planning to leave some air gaps at the back to allow some air to circulate and the entrance is wide and a bit taller than on the FB plans as the blocks I have been working with are 17 1/4" x 8 1/2" instead of 8" x 16". Hoping those extra 5" in the height of the store will save my back though it does mean the hearth is going to be quite high!
