Dear all
I bought a Mezzo 76 from the Stone Bake Oven Co a couple of years ago, but because I knew we would move house soon I put it on a temporary wooden stand with no insulation. It was brilliant. We have now moved and I am planning to build a proper base and insulate it.
Plan is as follows:
I have been given 40 thermolite blocks, so I will build a U shaped base from those. On top I will put 3 reinforced concrete lintels. Then 4 concrete paving slabs. I have bought Calsil board from the StoneBake Oven Co, so that will sit on the paving slabs, with the oven on that, then ceramic blanket, chicken wire and then render it all.
Does that all sound reasonable? Stone Bake Oven Co said their calsil (25mm) and Ceramic Blanket would give plenty of insulation.....
I need to waterproof the thermolite blocks with a PVA solution before rendering. Anything else I need to think about?
Thanks in advance
Xavier
