Hi everyone,
we recently came back from a lovely holiday in Turkey where, one evening, some Turkish bread was prepared for us. Interested in knowing how it was made we ventured into the kitchen and were shown a large wood burning oven. The thought was cast and the wheels began to turn.
I've read a huge amount from this site and learned a great deal in the process. Thank you to all contributors.
This morning my wife agreed, in principle, to us having a wood burning oven. So, I have a project!
I am not a bricklayer. I can lay bricks having built a base for a shed last year: We have a 1 in 20 gradient in our garden and with the shed being 16 foot by 12 foot it needed raising at one end - something like a foot and a bit! So, the thought of getting the cement mixer out again isn't an issue.
The slight problem that I have is choosing the oven to purchase. I sort of have in my mind that it would either be Mezzo 760 from Stone bake ovens or a KL Vento Superior from Kiln Linings. I am first to admit that I am not a cook aside from being a wizz with the BBQ but my wife is pretty good. For me it's primarily a project but with a very usable outcome.
I don't know if its reasonable to ask this question or even fair to ask it but I will do so and hope that you can help: what are people's views regarding each of the candidates and what are considered the pro's and con's of each? Anything that can help me reach a decision is much appreciated.
many thanks
Ian

Ian, I built the Veneto from KL last year. I had no insurmountable problems building it and anything I was unsure of, I asked Liam from KL who was super helpful. I had no experience building these before last year and don't know anything about the Mezzo. Mine turned out ok although it now has a couple of small cracks (no idea why) and I had an issue with my chimney but that was down to me and nothing to do with the product. Here's mine, ukwoodfiredovenforum.proboards.com/thread/1830/greetings-sunny-manchester feel free to ask any questions and if I'm around and can remember it would be a pleasure, good luck.

Hi Cocobongo,
many thanks for replying to my mail and for posting your link. I had looked at your link during my research and have looked at it again noting that you have raised the issue regarding cracks. I'm interested to know how you get on with these.
I'm sure that I will have questions as the project progresses and appreciate your kind offer to help me.
