Hi All,
Been looking into getting a wood fired pizza oven for the last few months and cannot decide wether to build my own or buy a prefab!! will be looking through your posts to get advice, but at the moment I am leaning towards a self build.
I live in The UK South Wales nr. Cardiff......

Hi & welcome There is an absolute wealth of info and some really helpful people on this forum, I hope you have fun whatever you decide, I've just finished (almost) my build and enjoyed every minute even the really challenging ones!! If I could go back and do one thing differently it would be to spend more money on firebricks and get denser ones with a high silica content (46% +) apart from that I'd never laid a brick before and I'm quite happy with the way it's turned out !  Have fun and ask lots of questions and post lots of pics! Cheers Daggle |

Thanks, your oven looks pretty impressive and a nice job! I was pondering about what brick to construct the dome with and that seems to be the most expensive part.... I was initially thinking of buying a prefabricated oven as I have looked at Amigo ovens and the cost seems pretty good and maybe I could insulate it and finish it myself. But then I looked at a few blogs and seen this forum and i am now considering my options...

Terry , the forums founder, only lives in Newport. Hopefully he will be here to help out as well. My two previous builds and my new build here ( when I get around tout! ) have all been clay.

Instead of self building you should buy portable wood fired pizza oven. As they are easy to move from one place to other. I recommend you to buy portable WFPO from ilFornino. They are one of the best manufacturer of portable WFPO. Have a look at their WFPO : www.ilfornino.com/ |
