Hello i am based in Manchester UK, and have been adding stone finishes to things for 8 years. I did a sample oven for Jamie Oliver Ovens , but it had to be portable and when they asked for dark stones, I was not very happy as lighter stones look better. The frame was steel and we used cement boards and vermiculite. Unfortunately when being delivered to a show/exhibition, it was smashed by an inept fork lift driver. Decopierre is a limestone based spray on stone finish that I hand colour then carve each stone. Its great for hot areas, and glassfibre can be added to the undercoat to add strength, (but not stacker truck proof). I like the concept of using the stone on wood fired ovens but as Mr O's company didn;t keep to the payment terms I refused to do more work for them. (Just wanted paying on time that's all). This one (below) is in my garden, and was built with concrete block (day 1) and then stoned the following day. The roof space is filled with vermiculite, and the cast stove is a treat on a cool night. Attachments:
