Well - the slab is down and the blocks ordered, so there is no turning back!
Looking forward to sharing a few photos as things progress and to picking up a bit of wisdom on the way.
Target for first serious use is 16th July - let's see if I make it

I'm not far from you in Wivenhoe, trying to make a decision about what sort of oven to build/order. I have no building skills whatsoever and baulking at the costs of kit plus labour. Any tips and suggestions welcome )

Hi Pizzamonster - I think the best advice I can give is read everything twice, and then go for it! Whatever you do will cost, but I think you will find lots of people in this community have fairly limited building skills. Take your time and enjoy it - it will taste better in the end!

Pizzamonster I have a cob oven. Which is cheap and easy to build. Good for pizzas, roasting and slow cooking. Even without insulation.
Just ordered brick oven parts. More expensive but going for it being water proof, and long heat retention.
Sorry for delay only just seen your post.
