I initially posted a few images in the newbie section. Here's progress to date. Using 3.1.1.1 homebrew with grogged stoneware clay and Accrington NORI reds. I love the stamped text on the bricks and have chosen to have this visible inside the dome. The hearth isn't a perfect circle so the dome's being built with an IT, couple cardboard templates and intuition.
Before the build I was very worried about stability of the dome but can see that this was needless - it feels very steady. Things I would've done differently - foundation plinth above not flush with surrounding ground level, bricks base wider by 2 bricks and install damp proof membrane.
Proud and excited at first brick build.

Winter is a little quiet in here, but nice to see another build growing from the ground; any idea how you are going to contain your dome once it's finished ? I'd be tempted to build the outer walls straight up and fashion a pent roof, then backfill the void with vermiculite, but that's just me ...

Update on the build - dome now complete - Oblertone - would love to build up the sides and roof over it but for now just plan to perlcrete over the dome and K-rend it. Thinking about chimney installation... going to add it at same time as insulation after drying fires - vermicrete will help hold it in place. Neglected to add DPM to foundation slab but hearth slab poured on to plastic which will give some protection. To add a little more protection from damp have cut into wall bricks and down the side of under hearth insulation with a view to inserting plastic sheeting between wall bricks and side of hearth insulation as well as allowing over dome insulation to meet under hearth insulation.

It's always good to see a finished dome; I used mine 'bare' for a year before putting insulation and a flue on it. Well done !
